The Values Party was formed in 1972, and dissolved into the Green Party in 1990.
It contested general elections since 1972.
Jeanette Fitzsimons was the Values Party candidate in Remuera in the general election of 1978.

After failing to gain members in Parliament the party struggled, and engaged in much soul searching. In July 1980, ahead of the 1981 General Election, Dave Atmore prepared a strategy discussion document for the Values Council. You can read it here:
